The founder and webmaster Mathias Haegglund says:
"Over the past 8 years we have built this website from scratch with now intention of it being a "non-profit" informative website for all those who enjoy music and especially Electronic Dance Music in all it's forms and expressions. We think that we've succeeded in doing that and also to help upcoming artists as well as established ones to reach out. We've crowned the Most Popular Nordic DJ seven times over the years. We've have featured over 5000 events and festivals on our website. We've gathered thousands of DJ Charts, Lyrics and Biographies from all over the world, from the bedroom bedlams to the superstars of the industry. All have gotten their fair share of the space in the limelight. We've served over 260.730.458 Kb of data. We've serviced 23.865.923 visitors with the information stored in our databases, But it's time to move on and since we haven't found anyone interested in carry on the legacy, we are forced to shut it down."

But we've had a good run and in some respect, we think that we made a little impact on all doubters dooming it to fail. History of Megamind
The website was started in June 2002 by Mathias Haegglund as a spin-off from Lushbeats Magazine, which was the proving ground for this new project called Megamind. After leaving Lushbeats Magazine to focus solely on Megamind it quickly grew and attracted attention for being the first website focusing on Nordic Clubbing and DJ Culture in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Now eight years later and having outlived most other websites started around the same time. Megamind is considered to be a stable and well looked after cornerstone of the industry. As always and as it's written "Megamind is always new, always informative, always insightful, always fun and always for you, the clubbers."

Most Popular Nordic DJ - The divider
Most Popular Nordic DJ is a voting process developed and run by Megamind, a website focusing on Nordic clubbing and DJ culture in the following countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The voting process is a way to determine who is the most popular Nordic DJ. Eligible recipients are Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or Finnish DJs, producers or artists who use DJing as a way of performance. Live acts are also counted if they include at least one person who DJs.

The vote started in 2003 and is still today the only true vote for whom is the most popular DJ in the region. The voting takes place between September 1 of each year until January 31 of the following year, making it the longest running vote in the world of its kind.

The voting has finally been counted and many new names have entered the list as well and Marcus Schossow becomes historic.

Marcus Schossow claims the title yet again and becomes historic by doing so, he is the only one who has kept the title from the previous year and also the second one to win the title more then once. Previously Orkidea have won the title 3 times, but never held the title the following year.

The three time winner Orkidea stayed in 4th place this year, giving way for fellow countrymen, Maku L (Markus Lasanen) and Sasha F yet again. Proteus gained one place and moved up to the 5th position.

This is also the last year that the Most Popular Nordic DJ vote will be in effect to give room for other measuring of popularity among the Nordic countries.

10 Steve Parker - Mexilhao - Weave Music]]> Sun, 31 Jan 2010 10:10:08 +0100 Start as you mean to go on is a mantra that instructs one to begin a new enterprise by acting and sounding as if it were already a success. And visitors to Playa Del Carmen for the first week of 2010 have been sleeping easily knowing that they have set the bar for clubbing for the next decade extremely high.

Now in its third year the BPM Festival has steadily been establishing itself as a ‘must-do’ on the clubbing calendar and with a strap line and mission statement of ‘escape the winter doldrums and head for the Mayan sun for beats and beach fun’ it is little wonder the festival has been attracting not only clubbers from across Canada, the United States and Europe, but also artists at the forefront of electronic music.



More than 20,000 party goers descended on the resort town of Playa Del Carmen over the course of the 10 day event this year. And with a seemingly impossible schedule of 30 parties meaning an almost 24 hour party policy which comprises 70 DJs spinning the best of house and techno in an abundance of backdrops, including the miles of white sandy Caribbean facing beaches, it is hardly surprising the festival is gathering an increasingly substantial army of followers year on year.

The music policy is strictly house and techno and allows for a full spectrum of artists and promoters to visit and work within the format outlined buy the BPM organisers. This year most of the day parties were held at the Kool beach resort beginning at around brunch time and running through to 8 or 9pm. The dance area is set around a pool which flows out onto the beach. The sound, supplied by Acoustic Project, was more than up to scratch for an external system and could be heard for some distance outside the resort. Daily parties at the beach included clubbing mecca Space Miami fronted by Luis Puig and Frenchman Cedric Gervais; a party with Cielo resident Nicolas Matar and Californian based Marques Wyatt and a whole host of upcoming stars from the Canadian and New York underground scene including Nitin Kaylan, Monsieur Cedric, dance temptress Lauren Lane and the nefarious Michelangelo among others. And with the likes of dance music monolith Hed Kandi in attendance one can begin to see why BPM is holding its weight on the global festival scene.



Elsewhere parties were held in the lavish surroundings of the Blucacao Beach Club which meant a short complimentary bus trip outside of the normal party zone, and saw the likes of Jojo Flores playing out he soulful take on house music. The Freak N Chic Label party brought Parisian favourites Shonky, Anthony Collins and Steve Letigre’s deep house across the Atlantic whilst Brazil’s Ana Paula brought a little carnival style flair and samba flavoured house music.

From the day one could segue into the evening to continue the party at a number of parties in some really impressive and at times intimate venues. The Blue Parrot beach club (complete with sand inside) was decked up to the nines to complement its beach front location with giant fluorescent jellyfish and electronic visuals to the same effect. This was the setting for nights headlined by the legendary Dubfire who brought his jet-black polished-chrome techno; purveyor of dark twisted house Steve Lawler; and global phenomenon Steve Angello.

Brahma club with its spacecraft lighting feature played host to Air London’s Nick Curly and Simon Baker. Curly’s fast growing profile was further enhanced as his Mannheim sound went down a storm following Baker’s tech house explosion. Sander Kleinenberg also delivered a memorable set here on the opening night which set the tone for the week.

La Santanera’s boudoir-esque décor played host to parties headed up by NYC tribal and techno titan Victor Calderone, Israeli techno export Guy Gerber, second-wave Detroit don Stacey Pullen, and even late addition to the programming British born Lee Burridge!



A wide plethora of artists comprised the line up this year in an attempt to deliver something for all dance music aficionados. And staying true to their roots the programmers deliver a fantastic mix of high profile DJs whilst supporting the up and coming artists from America and Canada.

For those who prefer to operate outside of the ‘hardcore party goer’ realm the BPM Festival and Playa Del Carmen offer a host of ‘extra-cirricular’ activities for those who wish to supplement their trip. Many visitors take advantage of the phenomenal diving opportunities on offer along the Mayan Riveria, and a short drive south of Playa are the breathtaking Mayan ruins near Tulum which serve as a perfect respite from the festival for many attendees.

Being perfectly situated 45 minutes from tourist hotspot Cancun, Playa Del Carmen is a perfect blend of traditional welcoming Mexican community mixed with the right amount Americanisation to make visitors feel at home away from home. Recognisable commercial outposts such as Starbucks and Burger King sit easily next to family run Mexican eateries that serve up the tastiest of Mexican cooking including perhaps the best burritos to guacamole.



The BPM Festival enjoys an easy relationship with the locals as the opening welcome note from the local Mayor in the festival programme attests. And with VIP passes not only including entrance to 30+ events during the BPM Festival (with VIP entrance and VIP Stage Access) but also VIP discounts at local stores & restaurants in Playa del Carmen you begin to realise that this does not have to be bank busting trip.

Having already scooped wins for Best American DJ and Best Full Length DJ Mix in previous years, Markus is again back in the running for those categories. Following the announcement of the fan-voted nominations yesterday, he has also been short-listed for Best Global DJ, Best Radio Show Mix DJ (for his renowned Global DJ Broadcast show) & Best Producer.

In 2009 Markus released World Tour: The Best of Global DJ Broadcast 2009… The innovative mix release used the original GDJB World Tour recordings from his live sets - with all the local shouts cheers and crowd noise locked in - to create an experience where the listener moves from one club and country to another. In receiving a nomination for the mix Markus said: Amongst the other nominations this year, I’m extremely happy to receive one for Best of World Tour 2009. Bringing those live recordings together to create the mix was the culmination of some particularly thrilling nights and some great GDJB World Tour shows in 2009.

The four day event is the world's leading electronic music conference and showcase festival and 100,000 festival visitors and 2,200 conference participants are expected.

The ADE conference has become the most important of its kind and provides the international electronic music industry a platform to do business, to exchange knowledge and keep up to date on the latest developments and trends. Central topics in 2009 were the use of electronic music in games, movies and commercials, the endless opportunities with mobile phone applications and how to connect to your audience in an ever changing world. The program also included speakers such as Armin van Buuren (NL), Carl Craig (US), Dave Clarke (GB), François K (US), Jason Alexander (HTGR, US), Jason Pook (Pioneer, GB), Junkie XL (NL), Mark Jones (Wall of Sound, GB), Mike Banks (US), Peter Hook (GB) and Richie Hawtin (CA). 



The festival offered a cross section of the best that electronic music has to offer with performances by over 700 artists at 40 different venues in the city of Amsterdam. On the program were among others:

Danish prize export Kasper Bjørke comes from the heart of the thriving Copenhagen electronic scene. After more than a decade as a busy producer and DJ, Kasper has released his work on labels like Plant Music, Fine, Thugfucker and V2 Records and in addition received a Danish Music Award as Best Producer, for the well known project Filur, which he still runs with his old friend Tomas Barfod (Tartelet / Gomma / Get Physical).

Two years after his much applauded solo debut ‘In Gumbo’ (released on NYC based Plant Music in 2007) Kasper Bjørke is ready to release his sophomore record, ‘Standing On Top Of Utopia‘ which is scheduled for release in February 2010.

The album is an exciting multi-genre journey through Kasper‘s mature, extravagant and richly musical mind. Lashings of glittering analogue synthesizer jams, warm throbbing post-disco trips, touching, heart-felt pop songs and dark electronic club tools are all present. Kasper really went to town on this album, and each track literally overflowing with top class studio and musical ability. Bursting with live instrumentation, tape-deck overdubs and an unmissable finger-on the-pulse atmosphere, its a treat for the ears and in fact all the senses. 10 uplifiting, melancholic, timeless and life-affirming songs lie in store.

A veritable Danish entourage of vocalists including Louise Foo (Giana Factory) and Tomas Höffding (WhoMadeWho) are featured on the album alongside a wide selection of guest musicians. Jacob Bellens (I Got You On Tape / Murder) wrote the song and contributed the vocals and lyrics on “Young Again”, the first single to be lifted from the album, which comes complete with superb remixes from Whomadewho, Serge Santiago and Lopazz & Zarook.

Kasper‘s solo productions are now taking two directions. The analogue slow mutant disco angle is covered by Kasper Bjørke, while his techno and minimal/house releases are being unleashed as “Kasper Bjørke & His Friendly Ghost”, serving him the opportunity to appear in two different contexts – as diversity has always been the main focus which shines through his style both as a DJ, his productions – and his remixes.

This summer Kasper has released his first 12” EP in the Friendly Ghost outfit on the brand new We Love This label imprint, incl. remixes by Catz N‘ Dogz & Pol On. Kasper‘s remix roster is as long as it is wide spanding: from Trentemøller, WhoMadeWho (Gomma), Visti & Meyland (Eskimo), The Ting Tings and Lulu Rouge to Familjen, FM Belfast and many more. Most recently he put his hands on Icelandic band MUM.

His first solo album „In Gumbo“, released on NYC based Plant Music in fall 2007, contains a melancholic voyage into cinematic soundscapes, while never losing the edge and nerve of the nightclub. The second single “Doesn’t Matter” was remixed by such renowned names as fellow Danish friend Trentemøller, as well as The Juan Maclean (DFA). The feedback on the album was beyond positive upon its release and In Gumbo got a lot of attention from renowned magazines like BPM (US), Lodown (GER) and Vice (UK), the latter stating “Cinematic, immersive synth disco that sounds like a million dollars… could be this seasons House Of Jealous Lovers for the new italo youth…..”

Kasper has just finished working on his second album, and it is set for an early 2010 release on the new hfn music imprint. In the meantime, the first single “Young Again” featuring the Danish indie singer Jacob Bellens, will be out in September including a stellar remix package by WhoMadeWho, Serge Santiago and Lopazz & Zarook. It is accompanied by a beautiful music video by Swiss multi artist Florence Tetiér – and followed by another single later this year.

Besides spending lots of time forcing his creative output in the studio he constantly travels the globe hitting some of the hottest spots on clubbing earth. Some of his personal highlights have been Cielo in NYC, Weekend in Berlin, Hive in Zurich and Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavik so far.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, an assembled panel of esteemed industry representatives (see below) have concurred to produce the final line-ups of four additional categories - Best European Festival Line-Up, Best Artist Newcomer, Best Headline Artist and Anthem Of The Year.

Fans are now able to vote for a second time to determine the final winners in all eight of the above categories.

Voting will close once and for all on Wednesday 30th December before the winners are unveiled at the gala ceremony, which takes place on Wednesday 13 January at The Grand Theatre, Eurosonic Noorderslag 2010, Groningen, Netherlands.

The winners of the YOUROPE Clean'N'Green Award, Artist's Favourite Festival, Promoter Of The Year and Lifetime Achievement Award will be decided by appropriate members of the industry jury (not public vote).

You can vote in as many categories as you want, depending how many you've been to and which ones are relevant to you. And by entering, you can enter the competition to win two tickets to every award winning festival in 2009 - that could total more than nine!

Website: European Festival Awards 2009]]> Fri, 25 Dec 2009 10:23:49 +0100 When Dutch house legend Funkerman announced he would be throwing down the gauntlet to producers across the globe to remix his track Automatic, even he could not have anticipated the phenomenal response his offer would trigger.

The competition received more than 500 entries and saw 4000 producers, DJs and fans logging on to download the parts of the track. Organised to celebrate the launch of Funkerman's new website, it is apt that the contest was fuelled by plenty of internet buzz - competitors passed around their work, distributed samples and commented on the various entries across the blogs and on Funkerman's page itself.

From the 500 remixes Funkerman was faced with the tough challenge of narrowing down the list to just 10 tunes. I never expected this amount of entries and the big hype around it, he said. It’s good to see that there are a lot of talented producers all around the world. I can tell you it was a tough job to select 10 finalists! I want to thank everybody who participated and supported this remix contest and I also want to thank I4 Muzique & M-Audio for their support. For now I can only say: Watch out and stay tuned for the next competition!

First prize winners were Hungarian trio Dave Martin, Hamvai PG and Roberto Winny. Their incredible funky sound and the high quality of their remix caught Funkerman's attention and earned them the chance to see their track released on Flamingo Recordings. They also win a 1500 EUR voucher from I4 Muzique to spend on M-Audio or Digidesign LE equipment. Already huge in their home country, this win is a step on the road to global stardom for this talented production unit - made even more astounding when you learn that this is their first release as a three-piece.

Second prize was awarded to Dutch DJ and producer DJ Funkadelic for his uplifting, danceable interpretation of the Automatic vibe. His track will also be released by Flamingo Recordings. This has been a big year for this young artist - in May he also won the Dancetour DJ contest which gave him a spot on the Dancetour bill and the chance to play his own material to a crowd of 10,000. If these two major successes are anything to go by, DJ Funkadelic will certainly be one to watch in the coming year.

From playing with the Playmates, to ripping it along side Eros, Disco D, and DJ Knightlife. Jenn has moved crowds with the DJ elite. Some of which include: DJ X, Keioki, Jen Lasher, DJ Annalyze, Mike B, Colleen Shannon (50th Anniversary Playmate of the year), Soren Larue, Messiah, Jody Wisternoff from Way out West, Heavy Grinder and Mea. That's just to name a few the list could go on, and on. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1983, Jenn was ready to rock right away. She held 4 residencies in Jacksonville, FL. at once.

She was born with a music addiction, and at 22 was still learning how to satisfy it with her Deejaying, Production, and Promotional work. Her love of music, and artistic vision has allowed her to travel and perform at some of the hottest spots around the world. She attended, and performed at the infamous Winter Music Conference in Miami. Then took an hacienda to the West Coast with the Music Syndicate in 05, stopping in San Francisco, taking a detour to Phoenix AZ, and on to Denver. Jenn's musical passion burns harder with each coming day. It's the heartbeat that keeps her going.

Her innovative style, and creative fire allows her to evolve in the industry, along side the EDM scene. She's been influenced by some of the worlds finest, including Armin Van Burren, Marco V, Paul van Dyke, Tiesto, John Digweed, and Steve Lawler. She is also available for modeling work. Jenn currently has six albums available. If Jenn's past is any indication, we have a lot more to see of this bright, talented, individual who's skill is just starting to be recognized.

The tour will be called as "DJ WIDENSKI world tour 2010" and starts in NYE from Club Privé and Museum Lounge in Tallinn and goes next to Melbourne top house club "Alumbra".

January sees Widenski playing in Shanghai and various cities in Estonia while in February and March he has gigs confirmed in Riga, Vilnius, London, Copenhagen and Helsinki. The tour ends in one of Thailand's best clubs "Seduction" (Phuket) and in Hong Kong at "Vertigo".

"DJ WIDENSKI world tour 2010" is promoted by Scandinavia's biggest dance music portal Megamind.se. Mathias Haegglund, founder and owner of Megamind says: Promoting and Sponsoring a tour is something new to us, since we mainly just report news, events and music related to Electronic Dance Music culture. This is a first for us, but we've been following DJ Widenski since the 2002 and it's always fun to see DJ's like Widenski achieving their goals and we hope that we will be able to offer more DJ's from the Nordic parts of Europe this. A regular guy from Estonia who despite to my tender age of 28 years have already been in dance music business for over 13 years and played my funky house sound with a strong disco touch in some of the top clubs on the planet such as Pacha (Ibiza), Turnmills (London), Vertigo (Hong Kong), Vogue (Paris) to name a few. I was also chosen to be the official resident for Ministry Of Sound parties in Tallinn. I love travelling, animals and hate people who think they are more important than others and General Motors who killed Saab.

How is the music scene in Estonia, compared to the rest of Europe?
To be honest it used to be a lot better years ago, early 2000s when people were very open to new stuff. We used to arrange many regular underground parties all over the country. At the moment it feels the majority of new generation who goes out every week has been growing up with commercial media and got therefore a strong music poisoning. We have very many clubs in our quite small capital city Tallinn and thank God a few of them are still hot and into good house sound. But to me Estonia is small, we have just 1,4 million people in total.

On New Years Eve you will begin a 3 month tour, tell us more about it!
Well it all started after me and my wife had decided last summer to have our next winter break in Australia. After I was offered a gig in Melbourne`s top venue Alumbra and also in Hong Kong`s Vertigo I decided to travel a bit more during that period and create a tour project and here`s the result. I am also very excited to play at my good friend Bert Bevans`es club Seduction in Phuket and Copenhagen`s best underground club Culture Box, both in March.

The International gigs you have lined up have focused on Asia, any particular reason?
I adore Asia, I have played in Hong Kong and India before, the way people live there and think is so different than in Europe and even if I wouldn`t maybe like to live there the rest of my life I still want to get there as much as possible – the climate, the culture, the food and the clubs. But my tour doesn`t only take me to Asia, I will be in many amazing places in Europe and Australia too.

What artists have been exciting you the most recently? And how would you rate 2009 as a year in general, musically?
I`ve always been a fan of Joey Negro and his disco sound and I`m happy he hasn`t got bored of producing great stuff. I have been digging in old stuff a lot recently and found many pearls so I guess it reflects that 2009 hasn`t offered too much good stuff to me. I have also got into soulful stuff more and more, maybe because I`m getting older and need more beautiful emotions. One of my best gigs in 2009 was definitely playing in South Spain in Andy Ward`s Vocal Booth Weekender – 2 days full of the best crowd ever, I will never forget it!

Since we now are close to Christmas, what do you want for Christmas?

Whereas for many the word 'reliable' can often signifies a tendency to stick to one style and offer few surprises, Danny is different: he's maintained a fan-base through his consistent willingness to experiment and a taste for musical genres far beyond house & techno - as fans of his legendary Radio 1 Essential Selection mixes and Resident Advisor podcast this time last year can attest.

Saturday 19th December sees Howells return to matter for his second appearance at the venue this year, after his debut on Bedrock’s 11th Birthday in October. We caught up with him to find out the secrets of being dance musics premier pace-setter, his plans for next year and what he really wants for Christmas!

As is customary, everyone’s making their end of year lists – what’s stood out for you as your personal favourite moments of this year?
Off the top of my head I’ve got to say that a recent weekend I had in San Fran will go down in history for me – I did the LoveFest which was unreal, plus the craziest, most remote venue called The Compound, a daytime gig at the End Up with Lee Burridge, Craig Richards etc, as well as an afterparty at Vessel followed by another afterparty. That particular weekend is now known by all that were there as The Epic!

There was another incredible weekend in Japan which I loved, two amazing gigs at Panorama Bar in Berlin, a gig in Beirut which knocked my socks off, and most recently a party in Pristina which I won’t forget. As far as home territory goes, Dig Deeper moved to the intimate Notting Hill Arts Club which is something I’m really looking forward to developing next year, and of course, the Bedrock night at matter was incredible!

What are your plans for next year, as a DJ and label boss?
As a DJ, I think I’ll carry on as I have been. I’ve slowed down on the relentless touring – I find I enjoy myself and play better and more confidently when I’m not wiping myself out for the sake of wiping myself out. I think I will be spending a bit more time in the States though, as it’s always been such an enjoyable experience for me, plus I always miss New York when I’m away from there for too long.

As a label boss? Well, part of the reason I was able to produce so much music this year was because I did make a real effort not to be away from home too much. I can occasionally get stuck in to making music when I’m away, but normally I’m much more inspired when I’m in my own comfort zone.

I have no grand scheme other than to try and improve my production, and to try my hand in areas I haven’t gone before. I’m frequently getting drum and bass mixes done because I love that style so much, maybe one day soon I’ll get do do my own drum and bass track. Whether or not anyone will get to hear it though … we’ll have to wait and see!

You’ve built yourself a rep for being one of the best warm-up DJs in the business – what would you consider the most important things to building an atmosphere in a club. How does warming up for Digweed at Bedrock at matter in October differ from a Dig Deeper all-night session?
I think the most important part of building an atmosphere is letting go of your ego. You have to accept the fact that you’re not the main reason why people are there, and accept your place in the night and realize that the warm-up slot is actually one of the most enjoyable, exciting and fulfilling jobs there is. it’s one area where you can really get creative, dig out all those amazing deep gems that won’t work at peak time and utilize them to very slowly suck people in. There’s always a point during the warm-up when suddenly you realize that it’s all starting to click beautifully – and that’s an amazing moment.

Warming up for Digweed will always be very important to me, because that’s how I learnt to do it. There were a few occasions back in 91/92 where maybe I did step into more peak-time territory, but I realized then that that was the case as the energy flow to the whole night would be disrupted as a result. That’s a very important thing – making sure the night flows from start to close, so that right through to the end, people are always going to be wondering what else is going to be coming. You can’t burn everybody out in the first few hours!
It’s hard to tell you the difference between warming up for someone like Digweed, or doing a Dig Deeper – I’ll apply the same principles to the opening set regardless of whether I’m warming up for myself or somebody else.

What artists have been exciting you the most recently? And how would you rate 2009 as a year in general, musically?
It’s been a return to the funk – artists like Okain, Yakine, Niggeman, Tanzmann, etc have filled my box this year. And the techy stuff, in my opinion, just got better and better. Not so much the stuff you see in top tens of download sites, but the trippier, quirkier stuff. Tempos came right down, giving the music some space to groove out. It’s so hard now to pin genres on DJs and producers, which is something I find very exciting.

And finally… What do you want for Xmas?
Fuck, I’ve been wanting to get myself a 1960s/70s jukebox for so many years now, but I always tell myself I shouldn’t. They’ve large so space would be an issue, plus I’d feel very guilty about splashing out that amount of money on a luxury item. Tom & the Stafford Brothers met years ago back at the Platinum Club, Gold Coast when Tom was touring Australia at the time. Through a mutual love of music and beer the guys became good friends and started to plan a studio collaboration! During their return tour of the UK the Stafford’s teamed up with Tom in his Studio bringing with them the vocal talents of their Cousin Frank Stafford.

With all these talents combined it was a sure fire recipe for an instant hit, ‘Come My Way’ was born and is now due to be released to the masses with its anthemic festival sound, rock inspired vocals and analogue electro bass.

Each track sampling slightly different sounds, 3 of which are collaborations with other suitably upfront producers; all showcase exactly why since he first broke onto the dance scene as a teenager back in 2006 people have been raving about his skills.

There is no doubt Danny was recognised as one of the producers driving the new electro sound back in 2006, with big releases such as ‘Discount’, ‘Teken’ and ‘Tension’ (which was done with his brother Elvis Benait under their Freakx Brothers alias.

At the age of twenty-two Danny Ilic aka Danny Freakazoid, is recognised as a prodigy in the world of electronic music. After the launch of his self produced track ‘Discount’ in 2006 the relationship with Cr2 began and the world started to take notice. What followed were a series of successful tracks and remixes such as Bush II Bush (The Piano Track), Spencer Parker (Open Your Eyes) and Tim B (Barcelona).

With Danny’s popularity on the scene rising he released his debut album ‘Freakazoid’ which was featured as Essential CD on Pete Tong’s Fast Trax show. The beginning of 2009 saw the first EP released on Cr2 ‘Left & Right EP’, which went straight into the top 5 best selling Electro House tracks on Beatport. The next, ‘One Million EP’ we’re certain will receive similar acclaim.

The first and title track ‘One Million’ sees a collaboration with Elvis Benait- Danny’s brother and the result is ferociously infectious. Second record is a lone production from Danny Freakazoid in the form of ‘Geoffrey goes bad’ and is a clear example of Danny’s tech house sound. Sampling a strong trumpet synth, which catches the listener unexpectedly, the melodic beat cruises through resulting in a captivating record. ‘Love can be’ focuses Danny’s skills into the tech genre, with an almost haunting piano riff interspersed with gradual builds, the memorable break down is one certain to be heard by clubbers going through to the early hours of the morning.

The fourth track on the ep is another collaboration this time with producer Tony Gomez named ‘Smash’; and last but certainly not least is Danny’s collaboration with Matt Caseli and is aptly named ‘Long legs running’. Using a familiar sample, the uplifting beat and melody indeed begin to run away with you. No doubt an anthem for any season Danny’s sound has not only developed from his previous releases but is further open to progression.

It is apparent Danny Freakazoid is back on the production scene and ready to champion some big hits, watch this space for an artist album in the near future.

This time, however, focus is on domestic issues rather than the inequalities of modern society. Dan offers us quite a pleasant way of tackling these matters, I must say. There's something hypnotic to his productions that makes you want to listen over and over again.

Number two in Dan Brasco's triplet of concept EP:s is yet another elegant synthesizer journey. Over a steady beat the different melodies play around and together they create a dreamy atmospheric experience. Dark yet playful with just the right amount of retro feel added to it.

If you're into labeling life, than maybe slomo minimal trance would do it. However we recommend you leave the analysis behind on this one, and simply enjoy the ride. Or dance the night away for that matter.

Recognised for his ability to destroy dance floors with a unique blend of banging, euphoric, up lifting tracks that leave you with no option to stand still. Born in Epsom, UK, started his DJ career in 1992 at local radio stations and friends house parties in Corfu, Greece.

As he recalls Back then, the House scene was evolving, but still very hard to find quality House records, so, we set up radio antennas in order to receive music programmes from other countries, made up our own cables and started recording on metal tapes. The tracks were full of horrific hisses and full of Italian radio jingles, but we had something!

After a short while, Christian joined Star FM 88.8 and rocked the island every weekday, mixing with tapes, borrowed vinyl and CD's. On regular basis, the still beardless young man, booked in 6 hour sets consisting of full on House, Trance and Euro. The tracks were ahead of their time and his unique sets, which were sponsored by local businesses, made the audience call in and ask questions about the kid who made the island wake up in the afternoon, rather than play siesta music!

Local bars and clubs in tourist resorts soon took in the young DJ, which had to please many different age groups and all musical tastes from around the world. ”Scandinavians, British, Greek, Dutch, German, Aussies and Kiwis were all united together, under the influence of my dance music, the feeling was fantastic and I made them all happy by playing a variety of music, crossing over genres and playing a lot of B sides of the vinyl, as the gigs were from 8pm til 3am and often 5 or 6am and needed a lot of tunes” he recalls with a dose of nostalgia

After Christian`s obligatory army service in the Parachute regiment, next was the return to his country of birth and South London was his new home. The Hard House scene was booming in 2001 with club nights like Just Groove in Club 414, Fevah and Fahrenite delivering the very best tracks and vibes across the capital.

A new face became a regular face, always smiling, by the dance floor, checking what worked and what not. One year later, Hard House Nation`s resident DJ and promoter Sunny, flew Christian over to Perth, Australia, were he proved that he was made for delivering uplifting and energetic chaos. Local reporters and websites named him Hottest export from Greece. The first autograph was signed and the industry gained a new friend for life.

Many more nightclubs, beach bars and promoters have hired Christian and ninety nine per cent of them are repeat clients. Thousands of clubbers have experienced his unique blend of Tribal - Progressive - Electro - Commercial House and keep coming back for more.

As Christian says: I deliver music that makes the crowd unite, in my signature thumping sets, put your hands in the air - glow sticks raving style and I do so by carefully selecting the most uplifting and energetic tunes from all types of House. Each set differs from the next and of course depending on the event. At the end of the day, we (House DJs/producers) all have 4/4 drum beats and we fill them with what it takes to get the crowd jump. Read and try a couple of tracks to check the floor, then pick those tracks that will send shivers down their spine and you have a killer recipe set.

Christian has also set up and managed many bars and clubs around Europe and recently moved to Norway, where he is taking a break from running venues and has devoted his time in setting up his own Deejay & Bar services company A Big Night Out!, delivering banging House sets around the Globe and music production.
